Journal article study group - Therapy with torture survivors

The primary focus is on therapy with torture survivors and addressing the stressors experienced by immigrants and refugees.
Participants may register for any or all of the sessions. Participants are responsible for obtaining each session's reading packet and for reading these materials prior to each discussion. The journal articles and discussion questions will be available at F.I.R.S.T. Project.

- Licensed Psychologists
- Psychotherapists/Professional Counselors
- Physicians/Health Professionals
- Licensed Mental Health Practitioners
- Clinical Social Workers
- School Counselors/Educators
Objectives of the Study Group
- Train health and behavioral health practitioners and educators to effectively meet the needs of their torture survivor clients.
- Enhance clinical knowledge and skills associated with working with immigrant and refugees survivors of torture.
- Create a network of health and behavioral health service providers who are competent in providing services to a specialized population.

Session details and schedule
- Location: F.I.R.S.T. Project office
- Duration: January 10th, September 12th, 2006
- Sessions are always on a Tuesday from 12:00-1:00
- All sessions will be facilitated by Maria Prendes-Lintel, Ph.D.
- A 9 session series for 9 CEUs or 1 per session
- $15.00 per session
- $120.00 for ALL sessions (one free session)

- Session 8, Aug. 8: Reconnection
- Session 9, Sep. 12: Countertransference
